Terms of Service
Welcome to dolessons.com (“dolessons,” “we,” “us,” “our”). These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the dolessons platform, including all features, content, transactions, and interactions between tutors and learners (collectively “Users”). By accessing or using dolessons, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
1. Definitions
User means anyone who uses dolessons (a tutor, student, or other role).
Tutor means a User who offers tutoring services via dolessons.
Student (Learner) means a User who books or receives tutoring services.
Booking / Session means a scheduled lesson between the Tutor and the Student.
Service Fee means dolessons’ share (35%) of the payment for a Booking.
Tutor Payout means the amount the Tutor receives (65% of the booking payment).
No-Show / Cancellation Fee means a penalty applied when a Student fails to attend or cancels within the restricted time.
Platform or Site means the dolessons website, apps, and associated services.
User Content means any content (text, media, communications) the User uploads or shares.
2. The Platform Role & Relationships
dolessons is a marketplace/intermediary connecting Tutors and Students. We do not provide tutoring directly.
When a Student books a Session, the contract is between the Student and Tutor; dolessons is not a party to that tutoring agreement beyond facilitating the transaction.
Tutors are independent contractors; nothing in these Terms makes them employees, agents, or affiliates of dolessons.
Tutors set their own hourly or per-session rates (subject to any site pricing rules), manage scheduling, content, methods, and delivery of tutoring.
3. Registration, Eligibility & Accounts
To register, you must provide accurate, current, complete information. You must remain at least 18 years old (or the local legal age).
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account and password. You are liable for any use of your account, with or without your knowledge.
You must notify dolessons immediately of any unauthorized use of your account or security breach.
4. Booking & Payment
Full payment is required at booking. A session is only confirmed once the full payment has been processed.
The amount you pay includes the Tutor’s fee plus the Booking fee.
At the close of the Session (or as otherwise defined), dolessons will release to the Tutor 65% of the payment (Tutor Payout).
dolessons reserves the right to hold, delay, or withhold Payouts pending dispute resolution, suspected fraud, or violations of these Terms.
Tutors agree not to demand additional payments outside of the platform for Sessions booked via dolessons. Attempts to circumvent will lead to termination.
5. Cancellation & No-Show Policy
This section governs refunds, penalties, and user responsibilities regarding cancellations.
Student Cancellations:
If a Student cancels more than 4 days (96 hours) before the scheduled Session, the full amount is refundable (i.e., 100% refund).
If a Student cancels between 48 and 96 hours before the Session, dolessons may retain up to 60% of the booking fee (i.e. a 60% cancellation/no-show fee) and refund the remainder.
If cancellation is made within 24–48 hours, dolessons may retain 40%, refunding 60%.
If cancellation is made within 24 hours of the Session start time (excluding just minutes before), the Student forfeits 100% (no refund).
If the Student simply does not show up (“no-show”) without cancellation, it is treated as a full penalty: dolessons retains 100% of the booking fee.
These rules apply only to Sessions not yet commenced. Once the Session starts, no cancellations or refunds are allowed.
Tutor Cancellations
Tutors must give at least 48 hours’ notice for cancellations. If a Tutor cancels without this notice, the Student is entitled to a 100% refund (without penalty).
Consistent or abusive cancellations by Tutors may lead to penalties, suspension, or removal from the platform.
Special Cases & Disputes
In the event of technical failures, force majeure, or exceptional circumstances, dolessons may, in its discretion, waive or adjust cancellation fees.
Disputes over refunds or cancellations must be submitted via official dispute channels within 7 days of the scheduled Session.
6. Content, Conduct & Use of Platform
You agree not to use dolessons for illegal, fraudulent, or harmful purposes.
You must comply with all applicable laws, regulations, and third-party rights.
Tutors must provide legitimate educational content and not violate intellectual property or academic integrity policies. For example, they must not assist Students in cheating on exams or completing assessments dishonestly.
You are solely responsible for the User Content you upload or share. By doing so, you grant dolessons a worldwide, nonexclusive, royalty-free license to host, display, and transmit it as required to provide the Service.
dolessons may remove, suspend, or disable access to any content or account it finds in violation of these Terms or for policy or legal reasons.
7. Disclaimers & Limitations of Liability
The Platform is provided “as is” and “as available.” dolessons makes no guarantees regarding uninterrupted or error-free service.
dolessons disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose.
dolessons is not responsible for the quality, accuracy, reliability, or legality of tutoring services.
In no event will dolessons be liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages (loss of profits, data, reputation) arising from your use of the Platform or interactions with other Users.
dolessons’ maximum liability for direct damages is capped at the service fees (2%) you paid in the 12 months preceding the claim (or another statutory cap, whichever is lower).
8. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold dolessons and its affiliates harmless from any claims, liabilities, losses, or expenses (including legal fees) arising from:
Your breach of these Terms.
Your use of the Platform.
Claims based on your User Content.
Any interaction between you and other Users.
9. Termination / Suspension
Either you or dolessons may terminate your account at any time for any reason.
dolessons may suspend or terminate your account without notice if you violate these Terms or for suspected fraudulent or harmful activity.
Sections covering Payouts, Indemnification, Liability, and any other provisions meant to survive will survive termination.
10. Modifications to Terms
dolessons may modify these Terms occasionally by giving notice (email or in-platform notice). The modified Terms become effective after a notice period (14 days). Continued use after modification constitutes acceptance.
11. Governing Law & Dispute Resolution
These Terms are governed by the laws of Lagos, Nigeria.
Any dispute shall be resolved in the courts of Lagos, Nigeria, or by arbitration/mediation if you prefer.
You waive any rights to class actions or representative suits.
12. Miscellaneous
If any provision of these Terms is held invalid, the rest remain in force.
dolessons may assign or transfer its rights. You may not without prior written consent.
Notices shall be via email or internal messaging; you are responsible for keeping your contact info up to date.
